Biography

Subzofo

Fresh talent emerging from North Wales rocking dance floors with anything from Progressive to House through Electro to Trance and Hard Trance! / Dance, Slammin in some Psy Trance to Techno to suit!!

I started off DJ'ing with a set of Vinyl Stanton STR8-60's in the back end of 2007 to see if I got into mixing. That took off well with help and encouragement from my wicked fiancée and the best mates you can get (you all know who you are), so I moved to the Denon DNS-3500 to try em out... Nice set of Dex (Just hard work!!). From there I made the decision to go the whole hog and grab some Pioneer CDJ-1000's and a DJM-600. Currently saving up for the DJM-800 now!! ;o)

Main Influences :

Where to begin... Well I'm a born and bred rocker at heart!! I grew up with the likes of Led Zeppelin (hence the "Zofo"), Metallica, Black Sabbeth, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd etc. Later moved on into the likes of Oakenfold, Fat Boy Slim, Chemical Brothers, Yello and the likes... From there I've just gone completely across the boarders of genres. Heavily influenced by Infected Mushroom, 1200 Microns, G.M.S. (Growling Mad Scientist), Astrix, Cosmosis and the likes for my Psy-Trance which started me off really. Markus Shultz, Armin, Sander Van Dorm, Ferry Corsten, DJ Strex, And Hannah B for her superb Trance mixing (I personally bame her for getting me into mixing!! ha ha). Tones of Electro artists... Woflgang Gartner, Deadmau5, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke. Far to many to mention but you get the general idea.

Where am I now... : Feb 2009

I've now been mixing for the past 6 months with playing out in mind, and this is currently where I'm at. Always trying out new ideas and techniques to slam in beats to the fellow listening ears and stomping feet!! I've not yet been able to pin myself down to a particular style yet as I enjoy mixing different styles far too much. Mainly I've been concerntrating on when to beatmatch occording to the breaks, ins and outs! And perfecting my beatmatching to leave me free to mix the tune.

My first time playing out was in February for the Happy Faces Charity, Organised by Sam Sinners ;o). What a rush of excitment crossed with intense fear that was!! I played the warm up set there, and altho there wern't many people in at 8pm I thought it went really well and is on my download page (Happy Faces Feb 09). Since then I have played at every Happy Faces night and am now a resident DJ for Sam.

I also played a night at "Freakin Sundays" in the Washington, Llandudno. I was then offered the chance to play at "KIDDSTOCK" - The Enchanted Realms North Wales, which was an awesome expirence curtosy of Danny Killa (Clinic). I have decided to take my mixing to the next level after playing at Kiddstock and concerntrate on constructing sets and my mixing techniuqes. Kiddstock was a real eye opener for me, not to mention my first festival!!! And in the mean time concerntrate on the gigs that I have lined up in the future so keep an eye out and check my news slots ;o).

I have recently taken on a Saturday night residency in the Prince Madocs in Colwyn Bay!! So if you in and around the area why not pop in for some quality tunage.... From around 8.30 - 9pm until close!! Another highlight of my Summer was playing Back to Back with the lovely DJ Decibelle (Laura Turner) at the 2nd installment of "KIDDSTOCK" - The Mystical Peaks in County Durham. We had a wicked response we had from the crowd there! We really enjoyed the whole day!! Met loads of new people from there, Thanks Guys!! Glad you all enjoyed the day ;o). I have now finished my psy trance trilogy, all 3 parts are available from the mix's section. I'm really pleased with how the 3 sets compliment each other to give you a true feeling of the power of Psy-Trance. A wicked build up through 3 stages of psy... Starts off with "Sureal" a Bouncy Goa, next up is "Subadelic"  a bit harder and more complex psy tunes, Finally Finishing the Trilogy with my latest mix "Grungadelic" Hope you enjoy the journey!

Please take some time out to have a listen...... and most importantly post some comments no matter if you are critical or complimentary.... that way you'll get to hear what you want ;o)

Please take some time to sign in... New features comming very soon ;o)

Enjoy.
